// ALL ABOUT ME

Who is Jacqueline Hellyer?

I've been called a modern day “Wise Woman”, encapsulating the renaissance spirit: well-travelled, well-educated, multi-lingual, eternally curious and free-spirited and generally fascinated by people and life.

As a sex and life coach I use my light-heartedness, lateral thinking and rigour to help you bring out your best and enjoy the best that life has to offer. It's the same approach I take with writing, public speaking and running workshops - it's serious stuff presented in an accessible, light and enjoyable manner.

I came to coaching after a life lived around the world working in environmental science, international relations and communication. Even though I had an impressive career, I felt an urge to work directly with people, and love the coaching paradigm of working with people to make them exceptional, with extraordinary experiences and contributions. And I love it! So do my clients - see the rave reviews below.

I've also spent decades studying and practicing the eastern arts of aikido and yoga, and I bring these philosophies and practices into my work with people, particularly the workshops, where I combine the best of the ancient east with the best of the modern west. And I love dancing, meditating, gardening, cryptic crosswords, hanging out with my three children, making love and generally pottering around.

I am unabashedly fascinated by sex in all it’s aspects, from the biological to the esoteric. I've studied it all my life, through my scientific and eastern studies. I firmly believe that a confident, integrated sexuality is crucial to a fulfilling and vital life.

Qualifications

I love to study, so I've got a string of letters after my name: a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and human sciences, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Science, a Bachelor of Arts in languages, and I'm
soon to finish a Masters Degree in Sexual Health with the University of Sydney. I'm also a Certified Professional Coach having completed a two-year certificate with the International Coach Academy.

I am an active member of the International Coach Federation, the world's leading professional body for coaching, and the Australian Society of Sex Educators, Researchers and Therapists.

Here is an inspiring and sexy multimedia presentation I did to show my quest in life -

My Philosophy

My personal philosophy forms the basis of my coaching, my writing and my life. It's developed over years of practicing aikido and yoga and an interest in eastern and western philosophies, as well as working in the environment field for many years. Here's a brief overview:

Centre
Centredness is about living from our centres, not being all over the place. Take a moment to note where your breathing is - are you breathing up high into your chest or shoulders, or deep into your belly? When you move do you feel drawn by your shoulders and head or pushed from your hips? When you operate from a position of centre you are calmer and clearer. If you lose your equilibrium and become flustered, angry or nervous, returning to your centre brings back the clarity and calmness.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the state of being aware of the here and now. So often we are thinking or worrying about everything other than what is going on right now. Mindfulness is about being centred and focused on the present. Practise it when you're doing the most mundane activities, like washing the dishes: focus fully on the dishes and the experience. Not only will living in a state of mindfulness make life more meaningful and enjoyable, it will help you when things are tough (while getting the kids fed, bathed and off to bed springs to mind!) and can accentuate positive experiences (such as dining or love-making).

Flow
You know when you are in a state of flow - things happen smoothly and effortlessly, as opposed to when it feels like you're battling the whole universe. There are always obstacles in life, flow is about going around them, not pushing against them or giving up in front of them.

Sexual Sublimation
Your sexuality is a powerful force for good in your life - if you embrace it and enhance it and direct it. Rather than seeing sex as something separate from the rest of life, feel it as the essence of your life. Sex is life! Your sexual energy is your life energy. It creates wholeness in your body, it connects you with the spiritual, it fuels your passions and enables you to achieve your desires. We are blessed with this energy, the secret is not to subdue it, not to dissipate it, but to channel it through centre, mindfulness and flow... Then watch miracles manifest in your life!

And life is full of wonderful paradoxes:

Serious playfulness
Sure life is serious, but you don't have to take it seriously. Problems are rarely solved by becoming all tight and worrying about them. When you find yourself taking things too seriously, it's a sure sign that you need to lighten up to make a breakthrough.

Abundant simplicity
To have a life of abundance you need to keep it simple. Too much mental and physical clutter interferes with the space for abundance to come into your life.

Relaxed passion
A relaxed approach to life, to even the most important aspects of it, enables your passions to stay flowing and not become obsessions. It keeps your mind open where otherwise you might miss what else is going on – not heeding dangers and missing opportunities.

Freedom through structure
To have the ability to move freely and lightly through the world it is important to have structure underlying you. Structure doesn’t mean being tight and enclosed. It’s like the difference between trying to launch yourself from a solid rock or from soft sand – you’ll have a lot more success from the rock.

Selfish selflessness
You can do more for others and the world if you look after yourself first. By keeping yourself hale and healthy you have more personal resources to give to others. It’s like the oxygen masks in an airplane: parents have to attach their own before they attach their children’s – a suffocating adult is no help to a child.

The perfection of imperfection
Life isn’t perfect –  that’s what’s so perfect about it! Once you accept life’s imperfections you’ll realise its perfection and feel a darn site more content about the whole thing. In fact you'll feel more than content, you'll feel the innate joy of living. Through letting go of beliefs and expectations you free yourself up to have your true self come through in all its strength, love and lightness.

Praise

And for a bit of unabashed self-promotion, here is praise from numerous satisfied clients:

"You are God!" Fiona, Barrister

"We came to Jacqueline feeling like we were heading too fast in the wrong direction - stress, work frustration, and no time to enjoy each other. Within a few months, we were on our way in the right direction - new jobs and more energy. Jacqueline's coaching mainly did two things for us: it helped us manage ourselves in very practical, real terms, and it gave us faith that a better life was ours for the taking. If ever there was a doubt that you can live your best life, all we needed to do was to look at her, because she is a shining example of it". L&M, consultants

"Coaching with Jacqueline definitely encouraged me to think about what is really important in my life and helped me establish strategies to make these things more prominent in my life." Karen, Social Worker
